Remembering Earl with Love... Earl H. Mattis, 84, of Stony Run Village , Denver , ( East Cocalico Township ), Lancaster County , died Friday, January 20, 2006, at 1:30 PM in Luther Acres Manor, Lititz, where he was a guest since May 25, 2005. Born January 2, 1922, in Womelsdorf, Berks County , he was a son of the late C. Harry and Cora (Stupp) Mattis, and was the husband of Janet I. (Gross) Mattis for 60 years. A member of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, Lancaster County , he sang in the church choir. Retiring in 1981, he was employed as a route salesman for Maier's and Bond Bakeries, Reading , for 40 years. A 1940 graduate of Womelsdorf High School, he was a staff sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II. He enjoyed traveling and had traveled throughout the USA . Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Cheryl F., wife of David M. Firth, Forest Hill , MD ; 3 grandchildren, Kristen Foard, Kimberly Flick and Kerri Firth; 3 great-grandchildren, Raine River Flick and Jackson Foard; also a sister, Dorothy Zaun, Annville , PA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Showers. Memorial Service Visitation... A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at 12 Noon from Peace United Church of Christ, 37 East Swartzville Road , Denver , PA 17517 . The family will receive friends from 11:30 to Noon. Private inurnment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery , Annville , PA.
