Remembering "Gene" with Love... Eugene S. Horning, 78, Denver , died peacefully at home on November 2, 2010, at 11:30 pm following a lengthy illness. Born in Ephrata, a son of the late Samuel and Myrtle (Weinhold) Horning, he was married in 1953 to Frances T. (Eisenhofer) Horning in Sacred Heart Rectory, West Reading . A rural mail carrier with the US Postal Service he was a Korean War Air Force veteran. An avid Indian and Harley Davidson motorcycle fan and rider, he was a Pagoda, Happy Pappy's and Retreads Motorcycle Clubs member. Gene also belonged to Reinholds VFW and Bethel American Legion. A very generous person, he loved his family and friends and enjoyed horseback riding and auto races. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Audrey A. (James R.) Weber, Denver ; and Sandra J. ( Frederick ) Stover, Stevens; son, Michael G. Horning, companion of Patti Fick, East Earl; 6 grandchildren; sister, Margaret I. (George) Eisenhofer, Leesport; and a brother, Donald Leroy Horning, Wernersville. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Stover. Services... Honoring Gene's wishes, there will be no viewing and services will be private.
