John C. Hutchinson, 87, of Denver, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, November 25, 2024. Born in Reamstown, John was the son of the late John L. and Mildred (Hoshower) Hutchinson and the loving husband to Dorothy A. (Hollenbach) Hutchinson for 48 years.
John was a graduate of Ephrata High School, class of 1955. He worked as a foreman for Moyers Knitting Mills in Ephrata for many years. He met the love of his life, Dottie, at the roller rink where they both enjoyed roller skating. John enjoyed everything about the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed flyfishing and even tied his own flies. Spending time at his camp in Clinton County included hiking and hunting in his younger years. For many years, John was a member of Mellingers Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schoeneck. He loved his family deeply and had a very special relationship with his great granddaughter, Holly.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by three children, Geraldine (Isaac) Bauman of Schoeneck, Beverly (Barry) Messner of Denver, and Rick Hutchinson of Denver; five grandchildren, Crystal King, John Kohl, Dereck Bauman, Kane Messner, and Khari Messner; and four great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Mellingers Evangelical Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Rd., Stevens on Tues., Dec. 3rd. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. and the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow in Mellingers Union Cemetery.
