William W. Weitzel

Remembering Bill with Love... William W. Weitzel, 74, of 69 Montello Road , Sinking Spring, Berks County , died unexpectedly Sunday morning in Rochester , NY , while visiting family. Born May 3, 1932, in Spring Township , he was a son of the late Earl and Anna (Zinn) Weitzel, and shared his life and home with Donna M. (McCardle) White for the past 25 years. A 1951 Wilson High School graduate, he was a Purple Heart Silver Star Medal recipient of the Marine Corps during the Korean War, and was a member of Russel Butterweck #465 Detachment of the Marine Corps League, Reading. Retiring from Carpenter Technology, Reading, after 32 years he worked part-time for Good Funeral Home, Reamstown. An avid hunter and fisherman, Bill also enjoyed attending area flea markets. Also surviving are 3 sons, Steve J., husband of Lisa (Baron) Weitzel, Bell Canyon , CA ; John E., husband of Tracey (Wanner) White, Mohnton, PA; and David A. White, Smyrna, GA; 5 daughters, Amy J., wife of Michael Schaffer, Boca Raton, FL; Patricia A., wife of Steve Pieja, Mohnton, PA; Marjorie L., wife of Rob Mitchell, Alfaretta, GA; Audrey L., wife of Will Van Ordan, Wernersville, PA; and Heidi Marie Vaughn, Maple Shade, NJ; 13 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Robert, husband of Joey Weitzel, Caledonia, NY; and Jay, husband of Linda Weitzel, Hershey, PA; 3 sisters, Arlene Kocher, Wernersville, PA; Betty Uhler, Easton, PA; and Marion Weitzel, Wyomissing, PA. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, John, Paul and Charles Weitzel. Viewing Funeral Service... Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2006, at 10:00 AM from Good Funeral Home Cremation Centre, Inc. of Reamstown, with The Rev. Stephen E. Hollinger officiating. A viewing will be held from the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, with Marine Corps League service at 8:00 PM. Burial with military honors will take place in Sinking Spring Cemetery, Berks County. Rather than flowers, contributions may be sent to Marine Corps League Scholarship Fund c/o Herbert Hummel, 304 West Walnut Tree Drive , Blandon , PA 19510 .
