January 23, 1926 — April 6, 2025

B. Joyce Rentschler, 99, of Denver, passed away on April 6, 2025, at her home with her loving son by her side. Born in Kutztown to the late Robert and Mae Bright (Dunkelberger) Sell and was the loving wife of Mr. Donald R. Rentschler for 67 years until his passing in 2018.

Joyce returned to school in her 40s, obtaining a bachelor’s degree from Millersville University for teaching and later earning a master’s degree from Kutztown University. Her career as a second-grade teacher for the Reading School District left a lasting impact on countless students, who benefited from her patience and kindness. Throughout her life, Joyce maintained a profound passion for singing. She joined the Reading Civic Opera Society and participated in numerous productions, showcasing her talent as a singer. One of her proudest accomplishments was taking on the leading role of "Marianne" in the show "New Moon." Her exceptional vocal abilities led to her selection by the R.C.O.S. director, Fred Cardin, to perform the role of "Rosalinda" in "Die Fledermaus." Additionally, Joyce sang as the soprano soloist for The Ringgold Band of Reading, leaving a memorable mark on all that experienced her talent. She also shared her musical gifts as a member of the choir at Nativity Lutheran Church. Joyce cherished her time spent with family and friends, particularly enjoying Chinese cooking, playing golf, and traveling alongside her husband. She was also an avid reader, enjoying her time getting lost in stories. Her zest for life and friendly nature endeared her to many, creating a legacy of love and warmth. Her family and friends will remember her not only for her accomplishments but for the joy she brought into their lives through her passion for music and teaching. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Joyce is survived by her two children, Mark S. Rentschler, with whom she resided in Denver, and Shawne K. Moyer, wife of Kirk, of Millsboro, DE.
