Bonita “Bonnie” A. Hench, 77, of Lititz, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, at the Gardens at Stevens. Born on September 26, 1948, in Lancaster, Bonnie was a daughter of the late Leon A. & Hazel I. (Goodman) Carvell.
A graduate of Warwick High School’s class of 1966, Bonnie’s artistic talents and love for crafting were well known among her family and friends. She was exceptionally artistic, finding joy in painting and engaging in all kinds of crafts, which brought color and warmth to her life and the lives of those around her. Bonnie also had a special love for dogs, particularly Cocker Spaniels, which brought her great companionship and happiness throughout her life. She also delighted in ducks and collected duck-themed decorations and keepsakes. Her deep love and devotion to her family were evident in the joy she found attending the games, performances, and special events of her sons and grandchildren, moments she cherished as some of life’s greatest blessings.
Bonnie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church. Those who knew Bonnie remember her as a kind, loving, and feisty soul. Bonita’s life was marked by her artistry, her faith, her love of animals, and her devotion to family. She will be deeply missed, and her memory treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Bonnie is survived by her four sons, Alan Hench (Kelly), Drue Hench (Sue), David Hench (Stephanie), and Dereck Hench (Tina); six grandchildren, Marci, Mitchell, Tyler, Jordan, Cody, Shane; five great-grandchildren; and three siblings Leon Carvell Jr. (June), Patricia Shimp (Robert), and Rodney Carvell (Jane).
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 1st, at 11:00 a.m. at the Millport Mennonite Church Cemetery, located at 820 Log Cabin Road in Millport, Pennsylvania.
