Cleo Mae Frymyer, 89, of Ephrata, passed away on October 7, 2026, at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. She was born on October 2, 1937, in Clay Township, Pennsylvania to the late George W. & Irene (Weitzel) Carvell and was the loving wife of Bruce C. Frymyer from 1954 until his passing in 2006.
Cleo lived a life marked by steady work, faithful service, and care for others. She worked as a factory worker at Fleetair Shoe Co. for 15 years. In the 1970s and 1980s, she also cared for children in her home, offering a welcoming place for many families. She was known as a neighborhood caregiver, a reflection of the kindness and generosity she extended to those around her. Her faith was an important part of her life. Cleo was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She also shared her time and talents through quilting for the church to send to Africa, joining practical skills with compassion and service. Cleo will be remembered for her caring nature, her devotion to her church, and the quiet, meaningful ways she served her family, neighbors, and community. Her memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Cleo is survived by her sons, Bruce A. Frymyer, husband of Teresa Frymyer, & Kevin L. Frymyer, husband of Joyce Frymyer; her daughter, Teresa K. Frankford, wife of the late James Frankford; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and her sisters, Sandy Conelly and Audrey Carpuew. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Frymyer; her great-granddaughter, Hannah Book; her parents, George and Irene Carvell, née Weitzel; and her siblings, Arlene Garman, George Carvell, Jr., and Shirley Umbenhauer.
A viewing will be held on Monday, October 12th, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church: 1331 W. Main Street, Ephrata, PA 17522. Cleo’s final resting place will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Brickerville.
