Shirker
July 1, 1929 – April 20, 2026
Fannie V. Shirker, 96, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, at the Hickory House Nursing Facility. Born on July 1, 1929, in Reinholds, Pennsylvania, Fannie was a daughter of the late Daniel W. & Katie (Gromis) Klapp, and the loving wife of the late Robert Shirker. Fannie lived a full and active life marked by dedication, warmth, and spirited involvement in her family and church.
Fannie was a high school graduate and began her working life at the young age of 16 as a sewing machine operator for Gerber, a role she lovingly upheld throughout her career until her retirement. Her commitment and reliability were hallmarks of her work ethic, reflecting the steady dedication that she brought to every aspect of her life. Fannie was a cherished member of the former Zions United Church of Christ in Lincoln, where she was well-known not only for her faithful volunteering but also for her culinary contributions, particularly her famed bacon dressing that brought joy to many special church events. Her outgoing personality and vibrant spirit made her a beloved presence among those who knew her. An enthusiastic participant in community entertainment, Fannie enjoyed frequenting bingo games—a pastime she adored and pursued passionately. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her and whose lives she touched with her warmth and vivacity
Fannie is survived by her granddaughter, Connie four great-grandchildren: Chris Hassler, Nathan King, Hannah King, and Noah King, who were a source of immense pride and joy throughout her later years. She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Shirker, and many siblings.
Services will be private to the family. Fannie's final resting place will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
