Frederick M. Ecenrode, 94, of Ephrata, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025. Born in Ephrata, Fred was a son of the late Harvey Leid and Amanda G. (Mohler) Ecenrode and the beloved husband of 61 years to Shirley A. (Shlicher) Ecenrode.
A lifelong resident of Ephrata, Fred worked as an electrician, he brought skill and precision to D&E Communications and Valley Proteins. He also worked as the Maintenance Supervisor at Ephrata Community Hospital and in retirement, he found joy in driving a school bus for Brightbill in the Cocalico School District. Fred's love for golf took him near and far, playing on courses both locally and across Europe. Fred was a man of faith; since 1970, he was a devoted member of Grace Point Church, where he served on the board, participated actively in Men's Ministry, and taught Sunday School. Fred loved to sing, whistle, and play the harmonica, sharing his memorized melodies with anyone around him. His welcoming nature meant he never met a stranger, and his calming presence could soothe even the fussiest baby.
In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by six children, Vicky Darden, John A. Ecenrode (Mindy), William R. Ecenrode (Tracy), Laura A. Steif (Mike), Suzanne Ecenrode, and Frederick W. Ecenrode (Bethany); 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and many great great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 2nd, at 6 p.m. at Grace Point Church, 110 Durlach Rd., Ephrata, and a visitation beforehand from 5 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lebanon County Christian Ministries (www.lccm.us),
