Obituary

Janet M. Wiest (Fassnacht), 82, of Ephrata, went to join her Lord and Savior on April 21, 2026, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

Born on November 7, 1943 and raised in Ephrata, Janet was the daughter of the late John Raymond and Mary (Heiser) Fassnacht. She was the loving wife of Dennis M. Wiest with whom she shared 62 years of marriage

A proud 1961 graduate of Ephrata High School, Janet built a long and respected career as a manager at Martins Country Market, where she faithfully served for over 30 years. Her coworkers became like family, and her leadership, work ethic, and kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Janet's greatest joy, however, came from her family. She adored her children and was endlessly proud of her grandchildren-never missing a chance to cheer them on at their games, performance's, and sporting events. Whether it was a ballfield, basketball court, swim meet, or soccer pitch. Janet was always in the stands with a big smile, offering encouragement and unwavering support.

She loved opening her home and her heart to those she loved. Summers were especially special when her pool became the gathering place for family and friends-filled with laughter, good food, sunshine, and memories that will be treasured forever. From cookouts and birthday parties to simple weekend get-togethers, Janet had a gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome.

A lifelong Philadelphia Phillies fan, she cheered for her team through every season, win or lose. Her love for the Phillies was matched only by her love for her people.

Janet was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life.

She is survived by her loving husband Dennis M. Wiest; three children: Scott A. Wiest (Jennifer L. Eshleman), Eric J. Wiest (Michelle R. Thomas), and Rebecca L. Wiest-Wilson (Christopher P. Wilson); eight grandchildren, Nicholas R. Wiest, Erielle E. Smith (Wiest), Abigail R. Wiest, Kylie M. Helfrich (Wilson), Addison M. Wilson, Logan Eshleman, Vanessa B. Coby (Schmuck), and Lauren Maxwell; three great-grandchild, Parker A.

Helfrich, Bethany A. Coby, Titus A. Coby, and another great grandchild on the way; her sister-in-law Patti Fassnacht, brother-in-law Ed Shultz, and her beloved dog Harper. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Mary (Heiser) Fassnacht; her brother, Reed Fassnacht; and her twin sister, Janice Fassnacht-Shultz.

Her life will be commemorated with a visitation on Saturday, May 9th, at 10:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 167 E Main St, Ephrata, PA 17522. The family invites you to wear a Phillies shirt or your favorite team’s shirt to the services.
