Jean R. Shober, 86, of Reinholds, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, at Reading Hospital. Born on May 11, 1939, in Durlach, she was a daughter of the late Clarence R. and Eva B. (Zartman) Snader, and the loving wife of the late Ronald E. Shober for 65 years.
A graduate of Cocalico Union High School, class of 1958, Jean forged a successful career as a secretary for the Cocalico School District and the Swamp United Church of Christ. Her commitment to her work and her community was a testament to her unwavering spirit and dedication to those around her. Jean was a devoted member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Denver, where she fostered connections and nurtured relationships with fellow congregants. Jean was an active member of her community, proudly serving as the past president of the Reinholds Lioness Club. She was also a member of the Denver Women’s Club for many years and was a member of The Red Hat Society. Her contributions to these clubs reflected her commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others. In her free time, she loved her garden and sharing all the fruits and vegetables with her family and friends. She had a love of cooking, collecting cookbooks and entering in many cooking and baking competitions. She also cherished her other collectibles such as handbells and angels. Jean will be remembered for her warm heart, her dedication to her family, and her unwavering commitment to her community. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion.
Jean is survived by five children, RoJeana (Mike) Elser, Douglas (Stacy) Shober, Brenda (Robert Jr.) Becker, Julie (Michael) Mucha, and Susan (Wilmer) Hurst; twelve grandchildren, Rebecca Rutt, Joshua Elser, Samantha Hull, Stephanie Shober, Mitchell Shober, Lindsay Romeo, Jordan Becker, Jared Becker, Larissa Kazmierczak, Benjamin Fortna, Samuel Fortna, and Colleen Hurst—as well as her twelve great-grandchildren; and her sister, Fay Weitzel. Along with her parents and husband, Jean is predeceased by her brother, Jerry (Dixie) Snader. Her family and friends will forever cherish her memory and honor the impact she made during her time with them.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM at Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc., located at 34-38 N. Reamstown Road, Reamstown, PA 17567. Jean’s final resting place will be at Mellinger’s Union Cemetery in Schoeneck.
