John Pierce Jr., 93, of Ephrata, passed away on December 28, 2025, at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born on November 20, 1932, in Stevens, John was a son of the late John Sr. & Lillie (Trostle) Pierce, and the loving husband of the late Nancy (Wechter) Pierce.
John was a graduate of the Ephrata High School class of 1950. Shortly after completing his education, he joined the Army and served during the Korean War, an experience that shaped his character and instilled a sense of duty to his country. He was a dedicated man who spent his professional career contributing to his community, starting with Grace Mines in Morgantown for approximately 20 years. Afterward, he joined Richard Sensenig Roofing, where he remained until his retirement in 1994. He was an active member of Zions Reformed UCC church in Lincoln and contributed to various veteran organizations, serving as the past commander of the Cocalico VFW and being a proud member of the American Legion and AmVets. In his personal life, John found joy in the simple pleasures, including visiting flea markets and traveling. In the last 15 years of his life, he embarked on numerous journeys, with Alaska and Iceland standing out as favorites among his travels. John will be remembered not only for his service and accomplishments but also for the love and kindness he extended to all who knew him. His legacy will live on through the lives of his family and friends, who will carry forward the values he cherished.
John is survived by his children Jeff Pierce, Jessie (Richard Mayer) Pierce, Janet (Jeff) Beck, and John (Cindy) Pierce; five cherished grandchildren, Jeremy, Amy, Josh, Samantha, and Miranda; as well as three great-grandchildren, Jaden, Kara, and Kendra. Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer, and his grandson, Jonathan.
