Warren P. Eberly, 97, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, at the WellSpan Community Hospital of Ephrata. Born in Lebanon County, Warren was a son of the late Wayne and Edna (Meyers) Eberly, and loving husband of Elizabeth M. Eberly for 72 years until her passing in 2019.
He served his country honorably at the young age of 17 in the Merchant Marines before transferring to the Army as a cryptographer and later he contributed his skills in maintaining aircraft in Middletown. Following his military service, he pursued a degree in electrical engineering, graduating with a Bachelor’s from Indiana Technical Institute in Fort Wayne. Warren went on to have a successful career with RCA, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 1990. As a devoted member of his community, Warren demonstrated his commitment through various accomplishments. He proudly led Boy Scout Troop 75 for over 20 years, earning the respect of countless families and youth. His talents were shared through various volunteer roles at the North Museum in Lancaster, a member of the Eicher Arts Center and the Ephrata Cloister associates. In recognition of his impactful contributions, the Ephrata Jaycees honored Warren with the Distinguished Service Award. Additionally, he was a longtime active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he fostered connections and friendships that lasted throughout his life. Warren had a passion for the outdoors, frequently enjoying camping trips and travels to his beloved St. Augustine, Florida. His love for music enriched his life and the lives of those around him, creating a joyful atmosphere for family gatherings and celebrations.
Warren is survived by his two children, Sally Eberly-Bowman (Glenn) of Ephrata and Scott Eberly (Pamela) of New Mexico. He will be lovingly remembered by his two grandchildren, Molly (Horst) Boody and Megan (Horst) Foster; four step-granddaughters; and twelve great-grandchildren.
