William C. Ludwig passed away at home on July 20th, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on December 23, 1937, in Cedar Top, to the late Chester and Pauline (Koch) Ludwig, and the loving husband of Shirley Ann (Rutt) Ludwig.
William was a graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, Class of 1955, and dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to Acme Markets, where he worked as a clerk until his retirement at the age of 59. His work ethic and dedication to service mirrored the values he upheld throughout his life. An avid baseball enthusiast, William played the sport until he was 80 years old and generously shared his love for the game by coaching the East Cocalico Youth League baseball team. His passion for baseball was matched only by his enthusiasm for participating in the Senior Olympics games, where he embraced the spirit of competition and camaraderie. William was not only a devoted participant in these activities but also an active member of the Faith United Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher and took the initiative to distribute devotional books, demonstrating his dedication to his faith and community. His pride and joy were evident in his family. Throughout his life, William remained deeply family-oriented, often attending every grandchild's event, embodying the values of support and love. He will be remembered fondly for his friendly demeanor and his steadfast commitment to those he loved, leaving a legacy that will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is survived by two children, Kim Ludwig of Stevens and Linn (Kellie) Ludwig of Ephrata; five grandchildren: Greg Burkholder, Stephanie Boger, Allison Ludwig, Brooke, and Carly Ludwig; brother, Curt Fritz. He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Robert Ludwig.
