Derek L. Youndt, 47, of Adamstown, passed away Monday, January 19, 2026. Born in Lancaster, Derek was the son of D. Linford Youndt (Dawn) and Elaine Muschlitz (Bob). He was the loving husband to Arin (Gillis) Youndt of 27 years.
Derek graduated from Ephrata High School, Class of 1997. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably for four years. He continued his service in the Reserves while earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Albright University.
Derek built a successful career as an Engineering Manager for WK Kellogg Co. in Lancaster. He was a devoted husband and an incredible father who deeply loved his three boys and his two Dobermans. He treasured time spent with his wife, often enjoying dinner dates together. They cherished family vacations to South Carolina, especially fishing at the inlet. An avid outdoorsman, Derek found joy in hunting, hiking, backpacking, and fishing, with many memorable excursions along the Appalachian Trail.
For both exercise and fun, Derek practiced Jiu Jitsu and earned his black belt at Collective Jiu Jitsu in Lititz. Raising a faith-based family was central to Derek’s life. He and his family regularly attended Grace Church in Lititz.
Derek was resilient and courageous, overcoming tremendous obstacles following a brain tumor procedure that dramatically changed his life. He was known for his great sense of humor, playful spirit, and kind heart—qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
In addition to his wife and parents, Derek is survived by his three sons: Darin G. Youndt (Hope Messersmith) of Denver, Jonathan A. Youndt of Adamstown, and Evan N. Youndt of Adamstown; his brother, Dustin Youndt of Lancaster; and his sister, Lindy Youndt of Arizona.
A Viewing will be held on Wed., Jan. 28th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a Life Celebration for Derek at 6 p.m. at Grace Church Lititz, 105 W. Lincoln Ave., Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will take place the following day, Thurs., Jan. 29th at 2 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
