Remembering Alverta with love... Alverta "Vertie" Steely, 84, formerly of Schoeneck, Lancaster County, died Sunday at 8:15 AM in Ephrata Manor, Ephrata Township, Lancaster County, where she resided since July 1998. Born in West Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late James R. and Esther (Wenrich) Stuber. Her husband, Clarence E. Steely, died September 13, 1998. She was a member of Mellinger's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schoeneck. Retiring in 1982, she was employed for 33 years with the former Dutchmaid, Inc., Ephrata. Vertie enjoyed playing the piano, having been the pianist and member of Friendly Circle of Ephrata, a senior group, for many years. She was also and avid Hausenpfeffer card player. Surviving is a daughter, Linda J., married to Elvin E. Heck, Ephrata, PA. Viewing Service A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning, November 5, 2003, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM from The Donecker Chapel of Ephrata Manor, 99 Bethany Road, Ephrata, PA, with her pastor, The Reverend Timothy L.
