As We Remember Gene... Eugene W. Getz, 67, of 103 Jefferson Avenue, Denver, Lancaster County, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at the Muddy Creek Hunting Club, Brown Township, Lycoming County. The coroner's office of Lycoming County has determined his death to be of natural causes. Born in Terre Hill, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Eugene W. and Mary C. (Gouse) Getz, and was the husband of Janice M. (Horst) Getz, for 46 years on August 17th. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Denver, where he served as trustee for many years. Retiring in 1998 from the Service Department of Sunline Coach Company, Denver, he continued working there part-time and has been with the company for 27 years. Getz was an Army veteran during peacetime, and memberships include the Muddy Creek Hunting Club, Lycoming Co.; Cocalico Sportman's Association, Denver; Northern Lancaster County Sportsman's Association; and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and dart ball player for many years. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons, Kerwin L., married to Sallie J. (Good) Getz; and Doran L. Getz, both of Denver; a grandson; a brother, William, married to June (Miller) Getz, Sr., Akron; and 3 sisters, Shirley, married to Robert Hoffman; and Betty, married to Elwood Lees, both of Ephrata; and Dolores, married to Gilbert Myers, Lititz. Viewing Services... A viewing will be held on Monday evening, October 1, 2001, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our parlors and also at the church Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:00 AM. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2001, at 10:00 AM from Trinity United Methodist Church, 420 Main Street, Denver, PA, with Pastor Gene L. Wilkins officiating. The interment will follow the church services in Fairview Cemetery, North 4th Street, Denver, PA. Contributions... Flowers will be received, however, if desired, you may remember Eugene by sending contributions to the Memorial Fund of his church at the above address.
