Beatrice A. Hassler, a beloved member of the Adamstown community, passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2026, at the age of 102. Born on February 8, 1924, in Brecknock Township, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Alvin K. and Mamie (Kissinger) Kring, and the loving wife of Earl Hassler for 66 years until he passed in 2010.
Beatrice devoted much of her life to being a homemaker, but her work extended beyond her household. Most recently, she contributed her skills at Bollman Hat Company in Adamstown. Her greatest joy, however, stemmed from her family, whom she cherished deeply. A dedicated member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 65 years, Beatrice engaged actively in her faith community. She was a member of the Quilting Group and the Lutheran Women’s Group, where she fostered friendships and participated in various church activities. Throughout her life, she pursued her interests with passion, including sewing, quilting, piano playing as a self-taught musician, and enjoying crossword puzzles. Her love for music also resonated in her family's tradition of singing at church. In her younger years, Beatrice cherished bus trips and traveling with her family, adding countless memories to her rich tapestry of life. Beatrice was a great baker, renowned for her exceptional grandma cookies, chocolate roll cookies, and pies, delights that will long be remembered by those lucky enough to enjoy them. Beatrice lived a life marked by her quiet nature, kindness, and deep commitment to her family and community. Beatrice will be fondly remembered for her love, warmth, and the lasting impact she made on everyone she encountered.
Beatrice is survived by her seven children: Patricia and her late husband, Donald Ernst Sr., Ephrata; Lynwood and his wife, Ruth Harding Hassler, Denver; Linda and her husband, Lawrence Woods, Denver; Sandra and her husband, Barron Koch, Reinholds; Kent Hassler, Mulberry, Florida; Marcy and her husband, Jon Koch, Adamstown; and Lisa and her husband, Jeffrey Musser, Denver. Additionally, she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren, along with her sisters: Shirley (Fred) Leathery, Ephrata; Barbara (Robert) Getz; and Mary (James) Stewart, all of Denver. Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hassler; her parents, Alvin K. and Mamie (Kissinger) Kring; her sister, Betty J. Harting Buckwalter; and her brother, Paul Kring.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 80 E. Main St., Adamstown, with Pastor Sandra L. Gideon officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Beatrice’s final resting place will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
