Phyllis J. Keener, 80, of Reinholds, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 6, 2026. Born on November 15, 1945, in Schoeneck, Pennsylvania, Phyllis was a daughter of the late Leon H. and Marguerite (Wenrich) Sweigart, and the loving wife of Ronald Keener.
Phyllis’s career was marked by diligence and care. She dedicated many years as a manager at Arby's, where her leadership was valued by colleagues and patrons alike. Following this, she continued her professional journey as an inspector at the Bollman Hat Factory, a role she held with pride until her retirement in 2008. A devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Reading, Phyllis’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her in kindness, compassion, and community involvement. Beyond her professional life, Phyllis was a woman of many interests and simple pleasures. She had a deep love for traveling to the beach, with Ocean City, Maryland holding a special place in her heart. Her enjoyment of watching tennis was a favorite pastime that brought her joy and relaxation. Above all, Phyllis cherished her family, who were the center of her world and the source of her greatest happiness. She will be remembered with deep respect and affection by all who had the privilege to know her.
Phyllis is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Keener; their three children, Kay L. Moore (Craig), Troy Keener, and Tammy L. Mertz (Jay); three grandchildren Amanda Martin (Shane), Dakota Enck (Benjamin), and Colby Mertz; three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Raegan, and Rylie, and three siblings; Dale Sweigart, Dennis Sweigart, and Gail Orbach. Along with her parents, Phyllis is predeceased by her brother, Lavern “Tork” Sweigart.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc., located at 34-38 N. Reamstown Road, Reamstown, PA 17567. The family would like to invite everyone that comes to dress casual and comfortable, just like Phyllis preferred when she hosted and attended family picnics and other gatherings! A private interment will take place at Pleasantview Cemetery in Sinking Spring later that day.
