Remembering Betty with Love... Betty M. Althouse Harting, 80, formerly of Ephrata, died Sunday, January 11, 2009, at 9:52 PM in Lancaster General Hospital . Born in Denver , a daughter of the late Henry D. and Elsie Mae (Saylor) Messner, her first husband, James W. Althouse, died July 20, 1983; and second husband, Lester E. Harting, died October 5, 2002. A member and former Sunday school teacher of St. John's United Church of Christ, Denver, she was a cook for Meals On Wheels, Denver, and a life-member of the Reamstown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Betty worked for Dutchmaid, Inc. and Ephrata Shoe Co. Surviving are daughters, Bonnie J. Steffy, and Brenda S. (Kevin) Haldeman, both of Ephrata; and Robin L. Althouse, Stevens; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Dorothy J. Ansel, Ephrata; and brother, Kenneth E. (Patricia Beamesderfer) Messner, Denver. Viewing Funeral Service... Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at 10:00 AM from Good Funeral Home Cremation Centre of Reamstown with her pastor, The Rev. David R. Brumbaugh, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park , Ephrata. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Rather than flowers, contributions in Betty's memory may be sent to Hospice of Lancaster County, Post Office Box 4125 , Lancaster , PA 17604-4125 .
