Karl Ludwig

Karl Ludwig, 71, of Denver, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Born in Ephrata, he was a son of the late John and Naomi (Hassler) Ludwig. Karl was a graduate of Cocalico High School, class of 1969. He was a dedicated pizza maker for Riviera Pizza & Italian Restaurant since the moment they opened in 1980. Karl spent most of his time at the restaurant putting his heart into making their pizzas the best they could be. Karl was known for being credited with helping Riviera create their special pizza sauce recipe that became the local choice for years. To relax, Karl enjoyed watching the Smokey and the Bandit movies at his daughter, Kristina's home, where he was "Papa" to his grandsons. He was passionate about his work, the restaurant, and all the life-long friends he met. Karl is survived by eight children, Donna Martin, Ruth Weaver, Anna May (Dave) Diem, Donald (Heather) Mowery, Dawn (Ronald) Miller, Robert McCuchen, Jennifer (Michael) Campbel, and Kristina (Marvin Strickland) Claiborne; nineteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; four siblings, Ruth Ann Miller, Jeannette Keen, Sandra (Gregory) Martin, Paul (Shelly) Hassler Jr. Karl was also predeceased by two brothers-in-laws, Robert Miller husband of Ruth Ann Miller, and Richard Keen husband of Jeannette Keen. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 8th, 2023 from 12pm to 2pm at Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, 34 N. Reamstown Rd., Reamstown (Stevens).
