Lavern R. Mohn

Remembering Lavern with Love... Lavern R. Mohn, 89, formerly of Akron and Stevens, Lancaster County, PA, died Thursday, August 25, 2011, in Ephrata Community Hospital . Born in Shillington, Berks County , PA , a son of the late John K. and Lillie E. (Pfautz) Mohn, he was the husband of E. Marguerite (Ansel) Mohn, Akron , for 64 years on March 29th. Lavern was a 1939 East Cocalico Vocational High School graduate and a World War II Army veteran serving in France and Germany ; receiving 5 bronze stars. A talented, self-employed carpenter and craftsman most of his life, he was a member of St. Paul 's Evangelical Congregational Church. He enjoyed his church family, local travel and " Word Circle " and "Fill in the Blank" word puzzles. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Rev. Dr. Sidney L. Mohn, Chicago , IL . Preceding him in death was a son, Douglas Lynn; a daughter, Cynthia Ann; and brothers, John P., Galen E., Melvin R. and Clair R. Mohn. Service Information... Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 31, at 10:00 AM from Good Funeral Home Cremation Centre, Reamstown, with his son, The Rev. Dr. Sidney L. Mohn, and The Rev. Kirk R. Marks officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery Annex, Denver . At Lavern's request there will be no public viewing. Kindly omit flowers with contributions to St. Paul 's E. C.
