Michael Gonzalez

Michael E. Gonzalez, 54, of New Holland, passed away Wednesday morning, October 26, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lancaster, Michael was a son of the late Fabian Sr. & Minerva (Ditzler) Gonzalez and the loving husband of 24 years to Lisa (Ehrenberg) Gonzalez. Michael was a graduate of McCaskey High School in Lancaster, class of 1986. He attended Michigan State Univ. then transferred to Bloomsburg Univ. and graduated in 1991. Michael worked as an Art Director for North Market St. Graphics in Lancaster for 11 years then left his work to be the caregiver for his mother. After the experience with his mother, he felt called to become a nurse. Michael attended the former Lancaster General College of Nursing & Health Sciences (now, Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences) and graduated in 2005. He worked at Lancaster General Hospital in perioperative nursing for 11 years. Michael and Lisa then moved to Alabama, and he worked at the St. Vincent hospital (East & Birmingham) in the O.R. He moved back to PA and had worked at the Physicians Surgery Center in Lebanon for over a year, until he had to resign due to his own cancer prognosis. Michael loved horseback riding; he and his wife own three horses. His greatest joy was being at home, keeping things simple and working on home projects. He cherished the little things like sharing a meal together and working together at the barn. Michael was selfless, understanding, and patient. He had a wicked sense of humor and could make everyone laugh. He loved his family deeply and had an unwaveringly passion for helping others. In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his sister, Michelle L. Good (Timothy) of Stevens; brother, Fabian Gonzalez Jr. (Terry) of Landisville; two nephews, Nicholas A. Gonzalez (Stacy) and Jordan B. Gonzalez; and a grandnephew, Grayson P. Gonzalez.
