David E. Sloat, 81, of Lititz, passed away on March 3, 2026, at the WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. He was born on April 14, 1944, in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, the son of the late H. Evans and Kathryn (Weinhold) Sloat, and husband of 61 years to June (Davis) Sloat.
He was a proud graduate of the class of 1962 from Cocalico High School. David devoted 27 years of his life as a machinist in Research & Development at Surgical Specialties/AngioTech, retiring in 2009. David was a faithful member of the Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, where he not only participated but also served on the church council in the past, contributing as an usher and on the property committee. This dedication reflected his deep-seated values and his unwavering belief in the strength of community and faith. An embodiment of the term "Mr. Fix It," David had a passion for working with his hands and delighted in taking on various projects. His resourcefulness and industrious spirit were well-known among friends and family alike. Beyond his practical skills, David exemplified community service. He served as a Cub Scout Leader for Troop 60 in Reamstown. His commitment to his community was also evident as a member of the Reamstown Days committee. David leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and dedication to his family and community. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
David is survived by his wife, June Sloat; three children, Christine, wife of Benjamin Hayes of Mifflinburg, PA; Steven, husband of Sue (Myer) Sloat of Denver, PA; and Denise, wife of Kevin Shupp of Beavertown, PA; eight grandchildren: William Hayes, Evan Sloat, Daniel Hayes, Reilly Delpiano, Jonathan Hayes, Claire Hayes, Sarah Shupp, and Kyle Shupp; three great-grandchildren: Jack Delpiano, Colson Sloat, and Benjamin Hayes. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Ebling.
A visitation and a memorial service will be held to honor David's life on Tuesday, March 10th, at the Muddy Creek Lutheran Church located at 11 Muddy Creek Church Road, Denver, PA. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 am, with a luncheon to follow service.
