Jack Jones

June 26, 1937 — April 7, 2024

Jack Jones, 86, of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. Born in Nanty Glo, Pa., Jack was a son of the late Albert & Jesse (Williamson) Jones and the devoted husband to Ida Y. (Fuller) Jones for over 64 years.

Jack grew up in the Johnstown area and later moved to Lancaster County for work. Jack brought his childhood sweetheart, Ida, with him and they married, starting their family in Ephrata. Jack spent 7 years working at the Bethlehem Mine in Morgantown. He then worked for over 25 years at the Boose Aluminum Foundry in Reamstown where he was a valued, hardworking employee. Jack retired from Boose as the Furnace Tender in 2003. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed watching Westerns and was a lifelong Steelers fan. Jack loved feeding the birds and every day, at about the same time, he would give them bread and watch as they eagerly awaited his arrival, perched in the hedges. Family was everything to Jack, and he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was affectionately known as 'Pap' and his love for them knew no bounds. Their happiness and well-being were always his top priority. Jack attended New Covenant Church of God in Ephrata. He lived by the values of kindness, compassion, and humility. Known for his quiet nature and attentive listening skills, Jack was a man of few words. He kept his opinions to himself, always considering the thoughts and feelings of others before his own. His gentle and respectful demeanor earned him the reputation of a true gentleman. Above all, Jack's life's mission was to care for his beloved wife, Ida. Their bond was a testament to the power of true partnership and commitment.

In addition to his wife Ida, Jack is survived by three children, Connie Peters (Scott) of Ephrata, Jack Jones Jr (Tena) of Ephrata; Gary Jones (Donna) of Akron; four grandchildren, Jackie Yohn (Dan), Jodee Berry (Nick), Robert Jones (Alyssa), Tom Hess (Monica); 14 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Grant of Belsano; sister-in-law, Sharon Hess of Kutztown. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by four sisters, Lavina, Jesse, Ruth, Violet; and brother, Albert.

A Viewing will be held on Friday, Apr. 12th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gravenor Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, Pa 17522. Other services and interment are private. Jack’s final resting place is Memory Gardens in Ephrata.
