Ardel Fay (Showalter) Garner, age 80, of Denver, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Married 62 years to her high school sweetheart, she was the loving wife of Allen P. Garner. Born in Reinholds, Pa, Ardel was a daughter of the late Harry Elva (Lutz) Showalter.She was a 1955 graduate of Denver High School. Ardel was an accomplished seamstress with the ability to sew anything from draperies to dresses including tailored equestrian riding jackets for her daughters. She worked at Superior Lingerie Co., Blue Ball, Pa, for over 30-years. Ardel began as a sewing machine operator and worked her way to costing and management positions. She was a supportive and encouraging 'horse show mom', grandmother, and wife. She was a faithful member of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and participated in the bell choir. She was a longtime active member of the Denver Women's Club. Ardel enjoyed walking and playing cards and games with her friends and family. She loved spending time at her mountain home and warm winters in Florida for the past 12 years. In addition to her husband of 62 years, Ardel is survived by three daughters: Vicki Garner-Sweigart, wife of Carl, Reinholds; Kathy G. Wilson, wife of Kenneth, Honeybrook; and Heidi G. Ulrich, wife of Chad, Denver, Pa; a granddaughter, Kelsey E. Gray, wife of Michael; and a grandson, Tyler Ulrich; three great grandchildren: Ava, Waylon, and Lane; also three step-grandchildren: Kenny Wilson, Julie Wilson, and Beth Drupp; and two sisters, a twin, Mardel Lausch and Janice Kohl. Viewings will be heldFriday, April 6, 2018, from6 to 8 PM Saturday, April 7, 2018, from12to 1 PM in Peace UCC,37 E. Swartzville Rd., Denver, PA, and funeral to followat 1 PM. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery Annex, Denver. In lieu of flowers, contributions inArdel's memory may be sentto Peace UCC,37 E. Swartzville Rd., Denver, PA 17517.
