Remembering Barry with Love... Barry Lee Seidel, 78, 4 Fairview Drive, Akron, PA died Wed., Oct. 24, 2007, in Ephrata Community Hospital. The husband of Mary Jane (Titlow) Seidel, they would have celebrated their 54th anniversary on Nov. 7th. Born in Reading , PA , a son of the late George C. and Josephine M. (Kline) Seidel, he graduated from Muhlenberg High School and attended Haverford College and Ithaca College studying communication. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1949-1953, attained the rank of Airman First Class and served a tour of duty in Korea and Japan during the war where he was assigned to the Press Corps reporting the news. Following an honorable discharge, he worked as an on-the-air personality at WBRE-TV and WBAX-TV in Luzerne County , PA. In 1961, he started at WGSA-AM/FM radio in Ephrata , PA , hosting "Live Mike" for over 20 years. He then served several years as a District Executive with the Lancaster County Council, Boy Scouts of America. He later returned and retired from WGSA/WIOV, later worked at WWBE-FM radio in Mifflinburg , PA. Barry was a member of the Throwing Bull Tribe of the Lancaster County Council, Boy Scouts of America, known as "Chief Broadcast-a-Bull." A member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church , Reading , PA , an associate member of the PA State Fraternal Order of Police, he was an avid golfer, enjoyed sailing with his family, motorcycling, and deer hunting. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons: Geoffrey (Robin Schmehl) Seidel, Walkersville, MD; Peter (Patricia Hahn) Seidel, Lawrenceville, GA; Andrew (Suzanne Ruch) Seidel, Ephrata, PA; grandchildren, Lauren (Christopher) Vandergrift, Ijamsville, MD; Benjamin Seidel, Phillip Seidel, Patrick Seidel, and Marcy Seidel; sisters: Suzanne (Dr. Glenn) Ruoss, Sinking Spring, PA; Elizabeth (Dr. Willis) Beardsley, Houghton, NY. Barry was predeceased by a brother, G. Stephen Seidel. Viewing Funeral Service... Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, at 11:00 AM from Good Funeral Home, 34-38 N. Reamstown Rd. , Reamstown , PA 17567 with Pastor Randall A. Grossman officiating. A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 AM. Burial will follow in Laureldale Cemetery , Reading , PA. Rather than flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Lung Assn of PA, Lancaster Outreach Center , 630 Janet Ave. , Lancaster , PA 17601-4584 or to your charity of choice.
