Theodore H. "Motz" Myers

Remembering a Great Guy "Motz" aka "Ted" Myers Theodore H. "Motz" Myers, 76, of 316 West Main Street, Ephrata, Lancaster County, died unexpectedly in his van Friday evening at the Green Dragon Farmers Market, Ephrata Township, where he had worked earlier that afternoon. His death was attributed to natural causes. Born in Ephrata, he was a son of the late Earl H. and Marie (Horst) Myers. His wife, Arlene M. (Hufford) Myers, died July 11, 2000. "Motz", as most people knew him, was the owner and operator of the former Ted "Motz" Myers Floor Covering, Ephrata, for 35 years, until retiring in 1983. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata, and an army veteran of World War II. Myers was a member of the Ephrata Post 3376 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Reamstown Athletic Association and was a former Republican Committeeman of Ephrata's 3rd Ward. He was an avid woodworking craftsman, fisherman, sportsman, and in the last few years he enjoyed "farming" saffron at his home. Surviving are 3 sons, Lon G., married to Gloria (Ober) Myers, Ephrata; Drew A., married to Deborah M. (Root) Myers, Ephrata; and Brad J., married to Sarah S. (Miller) Myers, Akron, PA; 5 grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys D. Flory, Ephrata. Viewing Services... Ted's viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, October 30, 2001, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our parlor. The funeral ceremony will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, October 31, 2001, at 10:00 AM with his pastor, The Rev. Levina S. Huber, officiating. Burial with military honors will be held from Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata. The Red Rose Honor Guard of Lancaster County will conduct the presentation.
