Jay C. Buch

November 3, 1945 — November 4, 2024

Jay C. Buch, 79, of Brownstown, passed away on Monday, November 4th, 2024, at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, Jay was the son of the late Allen W. & Clara M. (Wenger) Buch. He was the loving husband of Carole L. (Carpenter) Buch for 59 years.

Jay graduated from Conestoga Valley High School, class of 1963. He worked for Stief Concrete in New Holland for 53 years, starting when he was only 17 and climbed to being a construction supervisor. Jay was a lifetime member and trustee for the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Brownstown, where he was a board member for the associated Brownstown Evangelical Cemetery. Jay constantly gave back to his community through his many years of volunteering for the West Earl Fire Company and his 19 years as the West Earl Township supervisor. In his free time, Jay enjoyed playing baseball for the Adamstown Hatters and different baseball and softball teams that played at the former Zinn's Park. Jay was a member of the Buckskin Hunting Club, traveling to his cabin in Centre County to go hunting, fishing, and spending time with his loved ones in the woods. People often found Jay sitting with his friends at different flea markets, especially the Horst Auction House, Farmersville Auction House, and Green Dragon Auction House, where he would bid and collect antiques. Jay was an enthusiast about his bottle collection, and often shared his knowledge of antiques and West Earl Township history. Being a grandfather meant the world to Jay. He never missed an event for his grandkids, no matter the circumstances; ice hockey or soccer, rain or shine, home games or travel games, Jay was there. His heart and knowledge will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Along with his wife, Carole, Jay is survived by two sons, Thomas J. (Mindy Merkey) Buch & Joel C. (Rhonda) Buch; three grandchildren, Logan A. Buch, Leah A. Buch, & Ella G. Buch; and sister, Joanne Dissinger.

A visitation will take place Saturday, November 16th at 9:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life service to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 11 N Church St SW, Brownstown, PA 17508. Jay’s final resting place is the Brownstown Evangelical Cemetery.
