Remembering "Beattie" with Love... Beatrice J. Stauffer, age 91, a life-long Adamstown, Lancaster County, PA, resident, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, in Kindred Hospital, Havertown, Delaware County, PA, following a courageous battle with illnesses. Born in Adamstown, a daughter of the late Samuel V. and Mazie L. (Youndt) Horst, her husband, Harold W. Stauffer, died in 1972. "Beattie" attended East Cocalico Vocational School , Reamstown; leaving early to help support her parents, she earned her GED while working at the former RCA, Lancaster, retiring in 1981. Her lunch-time 'going away' party was the largest ever held for a retiree. She loved music, playing clarinet in the Adamstown Band, and was a founding-charter member of the Adamstown VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Following retirement, she served on Adamstown Borough Council from 1982 to 1989. A happy person who made friends easily, Beattie loved beautiful things: animals (especially cats), flowers, holiday decorations and ornamental china. Her love of family was almost matched by her love for traveling. Visiting various states including Alaska and Hawaii , she traveled to Canada , Bermuda and cities of Europe . The talent shows on cruises would bring out her love of music, performing a favorite song, "Sweet Gypsy Rose". A sentimental lady who grew up during the Great Depression and endured the uncertainties of WWII, she was sustained by her courage and faith in God. Beattie was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Denver, and is survived by her sons, Frederick J. and Randolph N., Adamstown, and her cat, "Rosie". Service Information... Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, at 10:00 AM from Peace United Church of Christ, 37 East Swartzville Road, Denver , PA 17517 , with her pastor, The Reverend William E. Hoch, officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery , Adamstown. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 AM. Good Funeral Home, Reamstown, is honored to be serving the Stauffer Family.
