Joan H. Gallagher, age 80, of Ephrata Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, formerly of Long Island, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 3, 2016, at 12:01 AM surrounded by family. Born in Queens, New York, a daughter of the late Frank J. and Margaret A. (Stott) Clasen, her husband, Edward M. Gallagher, died October 23, 1994. A graduate of Jamaica High School of Queens, she spent most of her life caring for her family and home. Joan was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ephrata. She was a great supporter of Boys Town; enjoyed knitting, especially infant caps for hospitals; and had a passion for playing '500 Rummy'. Surviving are her daughters: Kim, wife of John Wolf, Ephrata; Donna, wife of John Fay, Yardley; Dawn, wife of Rick Buckwalter, Mohnton; and Kerrie Shonsky, Johnstown; her son, Edward B., husband of Tanya (Ault) Gallagher, Hopeland; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her brother, Jerome F. Clasen, predeceased her. There will be a visitation on Thursday, January 5, 2017, from 4 to 7 PM at Good Funeral Home, Reamstown, followed by a Christian Prayer Service at 7 PM with Fr. John McLoughlin, C.SS.R., officiating. Final commendation and farewell will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017, at 10:30 AM in CedarHill Cemetery, 531 North State Street, Ephrata, PA 17522.
