William J. Blackshire, Jr.

William J. Blackshire, Jr., age 91, of Ephrata Borough, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at 7:55 PM in Ephrata Community Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, a son of the late William J. and Esther (Switzer) Blackshire, Sr., he was a World War II Army veteran. William was of the Catholic faith and managed Father Sons Shoe stores, Philadelphia. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed camping, golf, and was a fan of the Phillies, Eagles and Barnstormers.William was a loving gentleman who cherished his familyand friends. Surviving are his children, Joy Blackshire, Philadelphia; William J. Blackshire, III, Ephrata; and Kelly, wife of James Cooper, New Holland; grandchildren, Ian, Billy Joe, Trevohr, Caitlyn, Patrick Emily Jane; great-grandson, Connor; and his friend and former wife, Rita U. Huffnagle, Ephrata. His brothers, John Joe Blackshire, predeceased him. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 11, at 11 AM from Good Funeral Home, Reamstown, with viewing from 10 to 11 AM. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Adamstown.
