Luther E. Weidman

Remembering Luther with Love... Luther E. Weidman, 86, Reading, formerly West Cocalico Twp., Lanc. Co., died Friday, March 23, 2007, at 10:50 AM in St. Joseph's Hospital, Reading, where he was a patient for the past week. Born September 24, 1920, in Akron, PA, he was a son of the late Aaron A. and Amy C. (Ramsey) Weidman. He was widower of Marian (Miller) Weidman, who died September 29, 1973, and Betty ( Clark ) Weidman, who died April 9, 1998. An active member of Mellinger's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schoeneck, he was a longtime choir member, former Sunday school superintendent and council member. Luther was a former treasurer of Mellinger's Cemetery Board, sang with the Ephrata Cloister Chorus and with his brother in the "Cloverleaf Rangers", was a member of the Keyboard World Organ Club and an avid hunter. A self-employed farmer most of his life, he was also retired from the PA Game Commission, Middlecreek Wildlife Area. He is survived by a daughter, Karen M., wife of James J. Lesniak, Reading, PA; a son, David A., husband of Mary (Luttman) Weidman, Denver, PA; 3 grandchildren, Jason, Chris and Erin; and a brother, Charles, husband of Anna Mary (Rutt) Weidman, Reinholds, PA. Viewings Funeral Service... Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM from Mellinger's Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Road, Stevens, PA 17578, with his pastor, The Rev. Timothy L. Craven, officiating. Burial in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Brickerville, PA. A viewing will be held on Monday, March 26, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from Good Funeral Home Cremation Centre, 34-38 North Reamstown Road, Reamstown, PA 17567 and at the church Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:00 PM.
