Donald R. Ansel

Donald R. Ansel, age 90, of Stevens, East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at 3:00 AM in Keystone Villa, Ephrata. Born in Reamstown, a son of the late Harry G. and Edna W. (Sweigart) Ansel, his wife, June S. (Kern) Ansel, died June 14, 1999. Following graduation from East Cocalico High School, Donald served as a staff sergeant in the Army during WWII. He completed Harrisburg Barber School, then owned and operated a barber shop at his home for 39 years. Remembered for his quick wit, hearty appetite, especially for ice cream, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and watching baseball on TV. Surviving is his daughter, Donna M., wife of Philip L. Deibler, Stevens; sons, Barry E., husband of Susan (Houser) Ansel, Lebanon; and Jody L., husband of Ruth (Sauder) Ansel, Stevens; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-granchildren; sister, Marguerite Mohn, Akron; and brothers, Clair, husband of Allegra (Newpher) Ansel, Terre Hill; and Marvin, husband of Florence (Wenger) Ansel, Ephrata. He was predeceased by brothers, Vincent, Carl and Kenneth Ansel. Funeral services will be held from Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Reamstown, on Tuesday, October 27, at 10 AM, with Chaplain Rick Martin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.
