Gloria Elaine Ackerman, 92, of Adamstown, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020. Born in Pequea, she was a daughter of the late J. Clarence & Martha H. (Petters) Knotwell and the widow of the late Franklin S. Ackerman who passed in 1970. Gloria was a gracious matriarch who raised and shaped her family by her loving examples. She loved her family dearly and cherished family gatherings, picnics, and holidays. Gloria was more than a great cook; she was the humblest of chefs, her holiday meals spoiled the family year after year. She had a love for horses and enjoyed watching the songbirds and hummingbirds in the backyard. Rooted in her faith, Gloria taught Sunday school for over 43 years and was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Adamstown. An avid reader, she was proud to finish full novel series. Gloria will be remembered for her modest nature and deep love of family. She is survived by her six children, Elaine Good (Robert) of Ephrata, Jane Rutt (Larry) of Denver, Jeff Ackerman (Pam) of Lititz, Ann Ranck (Woodrow) of Adamstown, Kurt Ackerman (Rose) of Adamstown, & Kim Rutt of Adamstown; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; one great great-grandchild and one on the way; and a sister, Joann Hassler of Exeter. In addition to her husband, Gloria was predeceased by two sisters, Erma Soroko and Jean Kulp; a granddaughter, Jacinda Miller; and son-in-law, Keith Rutt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 385, Adamstown, Pa 19501. Services are private per Gloria's request. Her final resting place is Cedar Grove Cemetery, Adamstown.
