Marlene F. Mendenhall

August 6, 1940 — May 21, 2024

Marlene F. (Good) Mendenhall, 83, of Ephrata, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late David and Naomi (Snader) Good, and a loving wife of 62 years to George E. Mendenhall.

Marlene grew up in the Hahnstown area. For over 25 years, she drove the Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 van, transporting students to and from school. As a driver, she worked for the former Groff Transport and Rock Transport. For several years she enjoyed bowling in local leagues. Marlene was a member of the Reamstown Church of God, where she worshiped for 24 years. Her unwavering faith was the foundation of her life. She was the prayer warrior of her family. Marlene loved the simple things in life like window shopping, flower gardening, listening to hymns, peaceful Sunday drives, and watching the hummingbirds out of her window. She cherished her role as “Grandma” and attended many occasions and events involving her grandchildren, often bringing along her signature dirt pudding. Marlene guided her family with gentle authority, kindness, and understanding. She was always concerned about everyone else’s well-being, putting others’ needs before her own.

In addition to her husband, Marlene is survived by three sons, David J. Mendenhall (Sheila) of Reamstown, Duane E. Mendenhall (Mary) of Ephrata, and Timothy S. Mendenhall (Dawn) of Fowlerville, MI; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Good (Virginia). Marlene was predeceased by a granddaughter and brother, Gary Good (Mary).

Viewings will be held Tues., May 28th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wed., May 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Reamstown Church of God, 400 Pfautz Hill Rd, Stevens, PA 17578, officiated by Pastor Arthur T. Karick. Interment will immediately follow at Hahnstown United Zion Church Cemetery in Ephrata Twp.
