Born in Sayre, a daughter of the late Leon and Sally (Marcy) Palmer, her husband, Carl Barns, died in 1982. She was a graduate of Sayre High School and of the Methodist faith. Muriel was a switchboard operator for the Elmira , NY , telephone company; worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad, and last for Glen L. Martin Co., Baltimore. Surviving are nieces and nephews.
