James P. Hutson, 61, of Ephrata, formerly of Salisbury, MD, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024, after sustaining injuries from a vehicle accident on his way home from work. Jim was born in Baltimore and grew up in Ocean City, MD. He was the loving husband of 19 years to Terri (Parker) Hutson.
Jim was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School, Berlin, MD, class of 1981. For 18 years, Jim worked for Pepsi as a service technician in Salisbury, MD. Jim and Terri moved to Ephrata over 12 years ago where Jim worked as a crane operator for Weaver Superior Walls, LLC, a job he has loved since he started. A strong work ethic, Jim was the kind of guy who was the first to arrive and the last to leave each day. A true jack of all trades, he was always working on a new home project; most recently transforming a deck into a home addition. Happily working on his grandkids' cars was also on his never-ending self-made to-do list. His energy was boundless. Family meant everything to Jim, and his grandchildren were the center of his world. He was affectionately known as "Double G Pa" by his great-grandson, while his grandchildren lovingly referred to him as Boppy, Paw Paw, and Big Jim. He was rarely seen without a toothpick, a quirky habit that endeared him. James had an infectious zest for life; he never met a stranger and was always ready with a smile and a kind word. He was always supportive, and radiated positivity wherever he went.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three step children who he loved as his own, Michael A. Jones (Michelle) of Denver, Pa, Buddy Jones (Hollie) of Parsonsburg, MD, Erin N. White (Brian) of Mardela Springs, MD; seven grandchildren, Jourdin White, Breanna Jones, Ashlyn White, Hayley Jones, Bethany Jones, Autumn White, Xander Jones; great grandson, Finn Twilley; and his beloved Yorkie, Bailey.
